In this paper, a four-quadrant zero-voltage-switching converter for dc motor drives is proposed. From the voltage gain point of view, it is found that the proposed four-quadrant converter topologies are combination of the Buck, Boost and Buck-boost type converters. It offers zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) for all main switches and diodes, as well as unity device voltage and current stresses. This dc/dc converter can operate with higher efficiency at higher switching frequency. Therefore the power losses could be effectively reduced as well as the power transfer efficiency could be greatly increased.Master of Science (Power Engineering
