Developing input solutions for next generation mobile devices

The last decade has seen a proliferation of personal communication devices. The number of mobile phone users is increasing in millions. As the features offered by phone manufacturers and operators increased, one particular feature, Text Messaging, has gained immense popularity. The keypads that have been traditionally used with mobile phones were not designed for the current levels of text entry usage. As the features on mobile phones grew in number, they were built to adapt to the keypad rather than the keypad being the ideal interface.
