This paper seeks to explore the vegetarianism influences the self-identity for convert ethical vegetarians, as well as how vegetarianism might impact their social relationships and presentation of self especially since vegetarianism may be viewed as a consumption practice that directly confronts the norms of society. As ethical vegetarians often have strong beliefs about animal rights and considering the role of society in the construction of the self, this paper seeks to examine the impact of vegetarianism on their self-identity and construction process of the self-identity.
