Chemical oxygen demand (COD) is a measure of the capacity of water to consume oxygen during the decomposition of organic matter and the oxidation of inorganic chemicals. It is considered to be one of the most important parameters in wastewater treatment process. However, measurement of COD suffers from the drawbacks of time consuming and limitation to the range of the concentration of the COD value of samples. The objective of this project is to develop a novel COD sensor which provides fast and accurate measurement of COD value for wide application range.
