This study examines the developed bond markets of the United States, United Kingdom and Japan to identify the essential features of these markets. This is followed by a review of the Singapore Bond Market. Having examined the local market, the study argues that there is further room for further developing it. The possible factors which could have hindered its growth, and the recommendations which could encourage further activity, are identified and discussed. A questionnaire survey is conducted to determine whether the practitioners in the capital market, and those in the academia, agree with our views.BUSINES
