In tribology test for friction coefficient, high speed steel pin with different geometrical characteristics microscale textures were fabricated on the flat face surface of the pin. The friction coefficient changes due to the introduction of micro-textures are being examined. In the determination of the friction coefficient, the pin-on-disc method is first applied to examine the phenomenon and possible factors creating it. Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) was applied to texture the flat face surface of the pin with dimples textures of different diameters and area density to allow for changing of friction coefficient on the pin flat surface.
