This study is a preliminary investigation of local scour around a pile caused by a ship propeller. As a first approximation, the propeller generated flow is simulated using a circular jet. The main objectives are to study the scouring mechanism around the pile and the associated scour hole, and to identify the characteristic parameters affecting the scour hole formation.Master of Engineerin
