Internet of things for green buildings

This project aims to develop the model for green building using the Internet of things technology and this technology is becoming the daily operations of many industries in today’s world. The concept of “green building” is to reduce or even eliminate the fossil fuels and its secondary function is to create environmentally-friendly living in the workplace, such as residential and commercial buildings in Singapore. A well-designed green building projects may involve better usage of building materials, long-term consideration of function, climate, location and more. Singapore works closely with World Green Building Council (a global network of national Green Building Councils which has member councils in over 70 countries worldwide), adopting their own rating tool (BCA Green Mark) to certify “green buildings” in Singapore. BCA Singapore recommending construction companies to construct the building as a green building, and it helps in saving many aspects of water, energy etc. Building and Construction Authority has five parameters to certify the building as the green building they are Energy Efficiency, Water Efficiency, Environmental Protection, Indoor Environmental Quality and other green features like Rainwater harvesting. Green Buildings will be having better indoor environmental quality than any other conventional buildings and not all the occupants will feel their comfort in the same way. Among the five parameters, we are considering Indoor Environmental quality for this project and this parameter completely focuses on the action plan that would improve the indoor environmental quality which includes air quality, thermal comfort, acoustic control and daylighting. People spend most of their time in the indoor environment and it should be monitored regularly to know whether they are feeling comfortable inside the workplace. So we have included many environmental sensors to monitor the indoor environment and collectively data’s are gathered from all these sensors and then it’s been analyzed by extracting the data from the MySQL database.
