56 p.Thailand's Army is currently fighting a brutal counterinsurgency in its southern border provinces that has claimed over 4,300 lives to date and cost billions of Baht. The Army is no stranger to counterinsurgency having defeated the Communist Party of Thailand in 1984 and reduced a previous southern separatist insurgency to small bandit gangs a decade later. Still, after achieving some limited success, it cannot seem to find the right formula to quell the southern unrest this time after almost a decade.Master of Science (Strategic Studies
