ABSTRAK Makalah ini menyajikan hasil kerja eksperimental yang dilakukan dalam proses menyalakan S530 X 1000 Bubut dengan objek penelitian adalah C45 Steel. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan parameter pemotongan dari objek penelitian untuk meminimalkan kekasaran permukaan menggunakan metode Taguchi. Dalam penelitian ini, array ortogonal menggunakan array ????9 33 dengan 3 level dan 3 faktor. Faktor-faktor yang digunakan berasal dari parameter pemotongan seperti kecepatan spindel, laju umpan, dan kedalaman potong.
