Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are key components in atmospheric chemistry. They participate in photochemical reactions in the lower atmosphere and thus play a major role in the formation of tropospheric ozone and secondary organic aerosols. Biogenic VOCs (BVOCs) constitute approximately 90% of global VOC emissions. In the Mediterranean region, the emissions and reactivity of BVOCs are enhanced due to high temperatures and sunny conditions. In this context, this work proposes, through intensive field campaigns, the experimental characterization of BVOCs and their oxidation products in two rural sites where the vegetation is representative of the Mediterranean region.
