In 2010, 1,500 Chief Executive Officers identified managers’ creativity as the most crucialfactor for future organizational success. However, managers’ engagement in creative actionsis constantly competing with routine behaviors that implied less risk taking, uncertainty andpossibility of failure. This dissertation explores three potential avenues to study andunderstand managers’ decision to engage in creative actions. The first one focuses onmanagers’ conceptions of creativity and innovation as antecedents of their own creativebehaviors and their evaluation of creative managers and managerial practices.
