We explore the experimental missing p T signatures for squark q and gluino g production at the CERN p p collider. We present topological cross sections for g g ( q q ) production followed by g → q q γ ( q → q γ ) decay, applying criteria for the jet trigger and specification modelled on those used by UA1. Gluinos or squarks with masses less than about 40 GeV give events with missing p T , predominantly one-jet events, fewer two- and multi-jet events. We use the observed monojet events as an upper limit implying m g (m q ) ⪆ 40 GeV .
