In the present work, the mechanical properties and the deformation mechanisms of two Fe-Mn-Al-C TWIP steels are investigated by in situ high energy synchrotron X-ray diffraction experiments. The synchrotron experiment data are analyzed by Rietveld refinement method with the aid of MAUD software. The peak profiles are analyzed by the Warren theory, in which the peak shift is mainly proportional to the stacking fault probability and the peak asymmetry is mainly proportional to the twinning probability. The dynamic evolution of stacking fault probability, twinning probability and dislocation density during mechanical deformation is further analyzed and discussed.
