En el presente artículo se han abordado las características particulares y distintivas de dos regiones latinoamericanas caracterizadas por ser sociedades multiétnicas y plurinacionales, como son México y Perú. El enfoque metodológico ha sido de índole cualitativo, a través el análisis de documentos oficiales y fuentes secundarias con el objetivo principal de conocer cómo se han ido perfilando las políticas educativas destinadas a las poblaciones indígenas y conocer en qué condiciones políticas, sociales y económicas se han desarrollado.
