A partir de las publicaciones existentes hasta este momento se realiza una revisión historiográfica sobre las diversas propuestas acerca de estructuras de planta cuadrada que, aisladamente o en contextos más complejos, aparecen salpicadas en los entornos rurales del paisaje ibérico y romano, para lo cual se toma el caso de un territorio muy conocido y varias veces publicado pero que ha sido insuficientemente estudiado desde perspectivas críticas con los modelos tradicionales, por lo que se plantean nuevos formatos interpretativos integrándolos en conceptos de paisaje de la conquista de un territorio indígena, sirviendo de elementos de lo que se ha dado en denominar trasvase cultural.
