Science and scientific ideology: the ontological reductionism in Neuroscience

A questão da liberdade humana tem gerado um imenso debate entre as ciências da natureza e as ciências da cultura. As neurociências, suportadas por novos recursos tecnológicos que permitem perscrutar certas atividades neurais, têm vindo a defender teses que põem em causa a existência de um livre-arbítrio. Para as ciências da cultura, estas teses apresentam-se como um novo desafio. A reflexão que aqui é apresentada assenta no princípio de que a questão da liberdade humana não está limitada apenas à esfera da ação, mas envolve já a esfera do conhecimento, isto é, os processos que envolvem a construção da realidade.The issue of human freedom has been generating an enormous discussion between sciences of nature and sciences of culture. Neurosciences, supported by new technologies that allow the research of neural activities, claim the non-existence of a free will. These ideas are a new challenge for sciences of culture. The reflection presented here is based on the principle that human freedom is not just limited to the sphere of action, but also to the sphere of knowledge and so the processes involving the representation of reality.Universidad de Granada.
