El presente artículo explicita los modelos teóricos y las tendencias que subyacen a los programas de Formación del Profesorado Universitario (FPU) y propone definir planteamientos sistémicos del ámbito supra-universitario, con el fin de contribuir a profesionalizar el rol docente y mejorar la calidad de la enseñanza universitaria. Este trabajo tiene como objetivos describir los modelos, trazar las tendencias de la FPU y proponer mejoras tras la implantación del plan Bolonia.
