The Fight against the Jihadist Threat beyond Criminal Law: Analysis of the Programs for the Prevention of Radicalization and De-radicalization at the European Level

La amenaza proveniente del terrorismo islamista a la que se vienen enfrentando los países europeos en los últimos años ha dado lugar a importantes y controvertidas reformas en los ámbitos policial, penal sustantivo e incluso penitenciario. Sin embargo, no ha sido hasta fechas recientes cuando distintos países han adoptado también una estrategia complementaria, alejada de mecanismos estrictamente punitivos, y dirigida a afrontar aspectos no menos importantes como son la prevención de la radicalización y la des-radicalización. A partir de este contexto, el siguiente trabajo tiene como objetivo describir las estrategias y programas desarrollados en los últimos años en varios países europeos para contrarrestar eficazmente la radicalización islamista. Para ello, el análisis no solo se concentra en describir los programas e iniciativas, sino también en destacar sus aspectos positivos y negativos.The threat coming from Islamist terrorism which European countries have been facing in recent years has led to important and controversial reforms in the police, substantive criminal and even penitentiary areas. However, it has not been until recently that different countries have also adopted a complementary strategy, away from strictly punitive mechanisms, and aimed at tackling not less important aspects such as the prevention of radicalization and de-radicalization. From this context, the following work aims to describe the strategies and programs developed in recent years in several European countries to effectively counteract Islamist radicalization. In order to do so, the analysis not only focuses on describing the programs and initiatives, but also highlights their positive and negative aspects
