Neologisms in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and its Croatian Translation

This essay aims to prove that Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Harry Potter i kamen mudraca, its Croatian translation, involve these types of neologisms: loan words, compounds, shifts, blends, creations de novo and backwards-spelled neologisms. The research looks into the word formation processes used to create these neologisms, and it also provides etymologies for each term from the corpus. Every neologism contains a meaningful link that justifies its etymology, except for creations de novo. Some of these etymologies have been deemed as folk etymologies. This means that the explanation given to justify the meaning of a neologism works within the limits of fictional work itself, but not within the linguistic framework
