Saint Bonaventure’s Itinerarium mentis in Deum is written as a textbook on the formation of Franciscans, its basic tenet being imitation of Saint Francis of Assisi. Pondering over Francis’ life, Bonaventure, using the language of philosophy and theology, suggests forms of imitating the saint and thus offers an interesting interpretation of Francis and his life.
