Exclusive production of ρ$^0$ and φ mesons on hydrogen and deuterium targets is studied in the HERMES kinematic region 1<Q$^2$<7GeV$^2$ and 3.0<W<6.3GeV. Spin density matrix elements are presented. Violation of s‐Channel Helicity Conservation is observed through several non‐zero values of SDMEs for ρ$^0$, but not for φ. In exclusive ρ$^0$production on the proton an indication is observed of a contribution of unnatural‐parity exchange amplitudes, for which the dependence on Q$^2$ and t′ is sh
