Ricerche sulle mineralizzazioni metallifere dei M. Peloritani V) Le Mineralizzazioni metallifere delle contrade Ropi e Deni presso Fiumedinisi (Messina)

Outcrops of antimony-copper-zinc ores and ancient diggings in similar veins were recently (1981) relocated near Fiumedinisi (Messina, prov. Sicily) not far from the old and locally renowned copper-antimony-silver mines of S. Carlo, Montagne and others. Since fieid data and bulk mineralogical composition suggest the possibility that the newly found veins could represent a north-western prosecution of said mines, a study was made of the mineralization. The dominant ore minerals (tetrahedrite, jamesonite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, pyrite) of the mineralogically complex quartz-siderite-ankerite veins, show a paragenetic assemblage and structural relationships, that, together with other data, agree in supporting that the newly located veins may actually be a prosecution of the ancient mines or, at least, a detached section of them
