Female entrepreneurship or self employement? A study on females employees in São Carlos / SP

In the context of recent transformations in work, self-employment and small businesses have been viewed as alternatives to the traditional labour relations, composing a framework of new occupational arrangements and giving strength to the discourse of entrepreneurship and self-employment. Women, in part because of their common representation as more flexible, therefore more suited to the new demands of production, have conquered new spaces in the labor market, considered entrepreneurs in potencial. Issues related to maternity and domestic care are pointed out as factors that encourage women to engage in less regulated working positions, which make it possible to reconcile e multiple working shifts, favoring their participation in self-employment forms. To what extent the discourse of entrepreneurship re-signifies autonomous work activities and how this discourse is incorporated by the women who are in those activities that were analyzed in this research. The increase in the number of women in the entrepreneurial category in recent years, as well as the growth of movements that trigger the idea of ​​female entrepreneurship, are indications of a tendency to enhance flexible work and self-employment.This research aims to analyze the ways in which this insertion occurs, under what working conditions it is performed and how it is perceived by the women involved. The research was developed through a inquiry of digital content that addresses the category of female entrepreneurship, as well as field work in entrepreneurship events focused on women and interviews with entrepreneurs / self-employed women in the city of São Carlos-SP.Não recebi financiamentoEm meio às transformações no trabalho, o autoemprego e os pequenos negócios têm sido encarados como alternativas à relação salarial, compondo um quadro de novos arranjos ocupacionais e dando força ao discurso do empreendedorismo. As mulheres, por serem caracterizadas como mais flexíveis e, portanto, mais adequadas às novas exigências da produção, têm conquistado espaços no mercado de trabalho, sendo assim consideradas potencialmente empreendedoras. As questões relativas à maternidade e aos cuidados domésticos são apontadas como fatores que impulsionam as mulheres para relações de trabalho menos reguladas, que possibilitam a conciliação das múltiplas jornadas, favorecendo sua inserção em formas de trabalho por conta própria. Em que medida o discurso do empreendedorismo ressignifica as atividades de trabalho autônomas e como esse discurso é incorporado pelas mulheres que estão nessas atividades foram as questões que orientaram a pesquisa. A ampliação do número de mulheres enquadradas na categoria empreendedora nos últimos anos, bem como o crescimento de movimentos que acionam a ideia de empreendedorismo feminino, são indicadores de uma tendência de enaltecimento do trabalho flexível e por conta própria. Busco investigar as formas pelas quais se dá essa inserção, sob quais condições de trabalho ela é realizada e como é percebida pelas mulheres envolvidas. A pesquisa se desenvolveu por meio de um levantamento de conteúdos digitais que abordam a noção de empreendedorismo feminino, na participação em eventos de empreendedorismo voltados às mulheres e da realização de oito entrevistas com empreendedoras/trabalhadoras por conta própria da cidade de São Carlos-SP
