Studi kasus self-assessment RS Stella Maris Makassar menghadapi akreditasi = Self-assessment of Stella Maris Hospital Makassar in preparing hospital accreditation A Case Method

Objectives: The objective of this study is to measure level of preparedness for hospital accreditation of 12 services using standards developed by the Indonesian hospital accreditation commission. Methods: the researcher to assess 12 hospital services carried out Self-assessment. The findings were then presented using the European Business Excellent Model. The cut-off point was set at 75% in accordance to the Indonesian criterion. Results and discussion: In general, the findings indicated some weaknesses in all 12 services assessed. Positive results (strengths) were obtained in the following services: laboratory, pharmacy, work safety, and radiology. Comparisons of these scores and the previous self-assessment in 1998 for five hospital services revealed lack of continuous quality improvement after the first accreditation for five services. This was evident from the scores in the current self-assessment, which were similar (in general) or lower than in 1998. A special attention should be given to the nursing services, where the scores were consistently lower for all the 7 standards. Conclusion and suggestion: The European Business Excellent Model applied in this study was able to indicate strengths and weaknesses in each standard of the 12 hospitals services.
