Laju Dekomposisi Gambut dan Dampaknya Pada Status Hara pada Berbagai Tingkat Pelindian

This study aimed to simulate the field condition of the peat in the laboratory scale. Sa prist peat was taken from deep peat of West Kalimantan, and topogeneous peat from Rawapening (Central Java), these peats are kept in the saturated condition. The peat was placed up to 85 cm in the PVA tube of 010 cm and 0 7,5 cm. The first 25 cm of peat in the tube was mixed with the lime with the rate of 0 %, 50 %, and 100 % of total extractable acidity, and urea (100 kg/ha), KCl (100 kg/ha, and SP (200 kg/ha). The degree of aeration was done through different level of water table, i.e., and 20 cm above the peat surfacejust at the peat surface, 20 cm and 40 cm below peat surface. The leaching was done at big tube with the interval of 20 days. The leachate was collected for ionic composition measurement, p1-1 and EC values. The peat in the small tube was incubated for 3 months without leaching. The results of the study on Kalimantan peatshowed that:Leaching regularly of the peat will speed up the rate of pet degradation and losing the soluble peat nutrients, meanwhile the controlled peat leaching is able to depress the peat decomposition and the lost of peat nutrients. The time of 3 months is not enough for peat dynamic that caused by different aeration level and peat amendment. The leaching of potassium that has been given as a fertilizer is very fast at the.regular leaching experiment. The efficiency of fertilization can be faced in treatment without leaching. Peat from Rawapening have no potential problem to be developed for plant media, the regular leaching are able to deplete peat nutrients, and speed up the rate of further peat decomposition.
