ABSTRACT Tobacco smoke contained both a particulat and gaseous phase. Many compounds associated with tobacco smoke were known to cause certain health risks i.enicotine, nitrosamine, PAH compound etc. An alternative methode to minimize health risks was to produce liquid smoke and purification with activated carbon. The pirolysis was carried out in a reactor at 400°C during 2.5 hours followed by condensation through in cold water condenser. These liquid smoke contained various compound such as 0.475% acid, 6.7% carbonyls, 0.74 %phenolic, 0.917% nicotine and 2.70% tar and after purification had 0.62 % acids, 6.97% carbonyls, 0.68% phenol, 1.12% nicotine dan 3,84% tar.
