MAKNA SIMBOLISASIAYAM DALAM UPACARA KEAGAMAAN MASYARAKAT HINDU (Chicken Meaning of Symbolization in Every Religious Ritual of Hindu Society in Bali)

ABSTRACT This is library- based research integrated with empirically philosophi¬cal point of view. Its material object was chicken symbols in every religious ritual, while its formal object was religious philosophy. The integration of this research is to provide a new understanding to the concept of Hindu society in Bali about the meaning of symbol and its significance to the life of human being in general. This research is to answer the main problem related to the use of many kinds of symbols in religious ritual tradition of Hindu society in Bali. In detail, this research is designed to answer the question about the meaning of chicken symbolization in the religious life of Hindu society in Bali and also to study its influence to the society. The disclosure of the meaning of chicken symbolization is to show the strength of dialectics between religion and culture in every tradition of Hindu society in Bali. In this research, several approaches are used, such as descriptive method to explain the chicken symbolization, as it is, and interpretative and hermeneu-tical mathod to interpret the meaning in the use of chicken as a symbol. In addition to life the Hindu Society in Bali, which is represented by symbols. Keywords: Chicken symbolization - tradition - and Hindu society in Bal
