ABSTRACT: The 96 hour LC50 of Al in water with a pH of 5,6 and a hardness of 40 mg/1 was 7.72 ppm. In a concentration of 5 ppm all the neuromasts and supporting cells of brook trout died. In concentration of 7.5 ppm the neuromasts and supporting cells shrunk and died, the necrotic cells separated from the connective tissue sheath. After 2 months the lateral line organ of surviving fish started to regenerate, and in 3 months the organ appeared histologically normal. Keywords : Al acute toxicity, brook trout, histological recovery, lateral lin
