Fronteras y europeización del territorio: el papel de ciudades y regiones en la cooperación transfronteriza

he thesis aims to provide a new perspective for cross-border cooperation, as a key process in the construction of European territory. With cohesion policies, border areas become key to advancing community goals. And regions and local entities became key players in achieving solid cross-border cooperation and a new framework for the relationship between territories. With the analysis of the database derived from INTERREG, as well as field work and the teroric framework, the thesis provides data that helps to map and understand the processes that derive from the cooperation, and how it responds on the one hand to European policies, but also to a large extent, to an important geopolitical component derived from the territorial project of each actor and its willingness to position itself in the European territory.La tesi preten aportar una nova perspectiva a la cooperació transfronterera, com a procés clau en la construcció del territori europeu. Amb les polítiques de cohesió, els espais fronterers esdevenen clau per avançar en els objectius comunitàris. I les regions i entitats locals es converteixien en actors fonamentals per aconseguir desenvolupar una cooperació transfronterera sòlida i que suposi un nou marc de relació entre territoris. Amb l'anàlisi de la base de dades derivades d'INTERREG, així com del treball de camp i el marc teròric, la tesi aporta dades que ajuden a cartografiar i entendre els processos que deriven de la cooperació, i com aquesta respon per un costat a les polítiques europees, però també en bona mesura, a un component geopolític important derivat del projecte territorial de cada actor i la seva voluntat de situar-se en el territori europeu
