Several studies have showed that the occupants of damp or mouldy buildings have an increased risk of respiratory symptoms, respiratory infections and exacerbation of asthma. However, information on the school environment in this context is limited and hence more studies are needed. These dampness-related health effects may be associated with different indoor pollutants, but the causal mechanisms and aetiological agents are still largely unknown.
