Synthesis and characterisation of some sterically crowded, mixed phenoxide-isopropoxide derivatives of aluminium(III)

492-495Compounds of the type [Al (OPri)3-n (OAr)n] (where ArOH = o-nitrophenol, p-t-butylphenol, 2,6-dimethylphenol, 2,3,6-trimethylphenol, 2,4,6-trimethylphenol and 2,6-di-t-butyl-4-methylphenol, n = 1-3) have been prepared by the exchange reactions of aluminium(III) isopropoxide with sterically substituted phenols in the molar ratios of 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3. These new compounds have been characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molecular weight determinations, IR, 1H and 27Al NMR studies
