Studies on some antifungal transition metal chelates of 2-(2' -hydroxybenzylidene)- aminobenzimidazole

1024-1026Some new complexes of the type M(benzimidazole)2, xH2O [M= Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II)] and M(benzimidazole)3, [M=Cr(III) and Fe(III)] have been prepared and characterized on the basis of their elemental analysis, IR spectra, electronic spectra and magnetic moments. The ligand and its metal chelates have been compared with Dithane M-45, a commercial fungicide, for their fungicidal action against Aspergillus niger and Rhizopus nigracans.
