867-869Solvent diffusion through polyurethane membrane has been studied by measuring polymer dimensional changes due to swelling. The mathematical relations are proposed to calculate diffusion coefficients of polymer-solvent systems from the principles of hygroelasticity. A correction to diffusivity to include three-dimensional swelling has been suggested. Diffusion process has been explained in terms of Fickian mode of sorption and the results are discussed in relation to solvent-polymer segment interactions
