Studies on preparation, characterisation and metal-ion assisted aquation of [Co(pn)(dien)X]X₂·H2O (X = Cl, Br)

745-747Chloro and bromo complexes of the type [Co(pn)(dien)X]X2·H2O (X = Cl, Br) have been synthesized and found to have unsymmetrical fac-configuration from their 13C NMR data. Kinetic parameters for aquation of these complexes have been determined in nitric acid medium at constant ionic strength (μ = 1.0 mol dm-3). It is found that the bromo complex reacts faster than the chloro complex and the efficacies of the metal-ions follow the order: Hg> Ag+
