Synthesis and spectroscopic studies of complexes of arylmercury (II) with monoand di-tertiaryphosphines/their chalcogenides

806-808Reactions of phenylmercury (II), PhHgX (X = Cl, NO3, SCN, O2CCR3, R = H, F, Cl) with a series of bis(tertiary phosphines), Ph2P(CH2)nPPh2 (n = 1-4) give complexes of the type PhHgXL. Similarly, RHgCI on reaction with Ph3P, Ph2P(CH2)nPPh2 and Ph2P(E)(CH2)nP(E)Ph2 (E = S, Se; n = 1-4, R = mNO2C6H4, p-CIC6H4) give complexes of the type RHgClL (L= mono- or bi-dentate) or (RHgCI)2L (L = bi-dentate).
