39-42A method based on extraction of the analyte from the interfering matrix and atomisation by electrothermal technique (ETAAS) for the determination of platinum in heterogeneous catalysts has been developed. Interference levels of the probable catalyst coelements are checked. Beer's law is obeyed in the concentration range of 0.5-5.0 µg/ml platinum. The detection limit is 0.15 µg/ml with 3.3% RSD. The results are discussed in terms of the application of this method to the analysis of catalysts
