223-225Excess molar volumes (V,) have been determined for binary mixtures of ethylene glycol (EG) with water, dioxan and acetone at 5K intervals from 303.15 to 323.15K. Excess volumes have been found to depend on temperature, becoming more negative with increase in temperature. For EG-water system the contraction in volume has been accounted for by the formation of EG-water complexes at low concentrations and EG-EG complexes at high concentrations through hydrogen bonding. For EG-dioxan and EG-acetone systems, the contractions in volume have been assumed due to largely partial inclusion of EG-molecules into the spaces available in the structural framework of dioxan and acetone molecules
