Micellar effects upon the acidic hydrolysis of <i>para-</i>substitutedN-phenylbenzohydroxamic acids

51-54The rates of hydrolysis of some para-substitutedN-phenylbenzohydroxamic acids [X- C6H4(C= O)N(OH)C6H5, where X=H, p-CI, p-NO2, p-CH3O, pCH3] under acidic conditions with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide as cationic surfactant have been investigated. Reaction rate orders have been obtained. Cationic micelles of CTAB inhibit the hydrolysis reaction.
