121-124Fluorescent tracer studies carried out during February 1972 indicate that offshore sediments move predominantly towards north-east with some movement westward and shoreward; the beach sand moves west-southwesterly. Northeasterly direction of movement of sediments seems to be due to prevailing coastal currents and tides; westward and shoreward movements may be due to waves and tides. West-south-westerly movement of beach sand also seems to be due to waves approaching from south-east. Depletion rate for the beach experiment is 4.9% per min for the first 20 min
