46-47Brown algae (43 samples) comprising 10 genera were analysed for their protein content which varied from 4.94U+0025 (Iyengaria stellata) to 29.38U+0025 (Spatoglossum variabile). Protein content varied not only in different genera but also among different species of the same genus. The same algal species collected at different places and different periods also showed variations in protein content
