50-51A preliminary study was conducted to isolate and enumerate oil degrading bacteria (ODB) from 5 stations along the coast of Kuwait Bay. The number of ODB was variable at different stations depending on the level of oil pollution. The data suggest that ODB can be used as bioindicators of oil pollution in the Gulf area
