114-116Thirty samples of marine organisms (algae, molluscs and fish) were collected and the total aromatic hydrocarbon content, as an indicator of oil contamination, in each sample was analysed using high performance liquid chromatography. The concentration of the aromatic fraction in different samples varied from 1 to 7% of the corresponding total hydrocarbon content depending on the species and the locality of its occurrence. The composition of the aromatic fraction in all samples was primarily bi-and tricyclic compounds
