158-161The regular observations of the measurements of absorption of radio waves in the ionosphere by A1 method at Ahmedabad on three different frequencies commenced in April 1972. Results for two months, April and August 1972, are presented for absorption on 1.8 MHz and 2.2 MHz It is found that the absorption on 1.8 MHz reaches a maximum of about 72 dB a little after noon in April and almost at noon in August, and that on 2.2 MHz reaches a maximum of about 61 dB in April and August. The exponent n in the cos χ law of the diurnal variation of absorption on 1.8 MHz is found to be 0.88 in April and 0.97 in August while that for 2.2 MHz, it is 0.94 and 1.35 respectively.
