162-165Gryzinski's classical theory with modified limits of energy transfer has been used to calculate the cross-sections for electron capture into IS and 2S states of hydrogen atom from Ne, Xe, Kr, Li, Na and K targets for impact proton energies in the range 1-105 keV. The results obtained are in reasonably good agreement with experiment and show much improvement over values calculated by previous workers. The present modified limits of energy transfer preserve the principle of detailed balance and can be equally applied to cases where initial binding energy of the electron is greater, equal to or less than the final binding energy of the electron after capture
