91-93Textural studies of Tellicherry mangrove sediment indicate that, silty sand is the major textural class in the allochthonous sediments, followed by muddy sand, sandy mud and mud. The textural characteristics with their interrelationship in scatterplots indicate the prevalence of a high energy zone adjacent to the river mouth. Buffer mangroves, river discharge and the tidal influx within the system are responsible for the sediment distribution pattern in the mangrove ecosystem of Tellicherry
