157-159Longshore currents and sediment transport along the beaches of Mangalore have been studied over a period of one year. The sector-wise average longshore current velocity was high (0.18, 0.16 and 0.17 m/s in the northern, middle and southern sectors respectively) from March to November. Net sediment movement was towards south in all the three sectors and maximum (4.10 x 10(5)m(3)/yr) in the southern sector
