Dyeing of polyacrylonitrile fibres with monoazo disperse dyes-adsorption studies

The saturation values and affinities of the dyes were correlated with dye structure and solubility parameters of dyes and fibre. Presence of more number of NH2 groups and electron releasing substituent groups enhancing the basic character of the dye have a marked positive effect on its saturation values on acrylic fibre. Similarly, polar contribution and the ratio of dispersion and polar contributions to the solubility parameters of dyes and fibre are found to be correlated with saturation dye uptakes of disperse dyes on acrylic fibre.
