Development of cracks in slabs subjected to sustained load

A series of 26 slabs reinforced with welded deformed wire fabrics and made of concrete using Danube River aggregate and crushed aggregate have been tested. The slabs have been supported on three sides without anchorage of the corners. Six slabs have been subjected to short-time tests until failure. Sustained load of about half the failure load has been applied to 20 slabs at the age of 7, 14, 28, 60, and W days and maintained for about 400 days. The results lead to conclusion that the age of the concrete at the time of application of sustained load had a significant influence on the final deterioration of slabs due to the cracks.
