515-521This paper presents finite time thermodynamic optimization of a Rankine cycle heat pump system affected by both, external and internal irreversibility. For a given input heat transfer rate in the boiler (heat source), work output of the heat engine is maximized and for a given heating load, work input to the heat pump cycle is minimized. The optimal bounds for the coefficient of performance (COP) and working fluid temperatures are determined, at a given heating load.
